Darryl is an inclusion champion. With over 30 years’ experience, he is a keen advocate of partnership working that delivers inclusive outcomes.
During his tenure as president of the Access Association he was pleased to have co-delivered a national programme of “Planning for Everyone “seminars. As a member of Inclusion by Design Group he contributed to national and regional projects and developed initiatives for enabling place -making. He has sat on several parliamentary roundtables, seminars and working groups to drive forward inclusion through national policy and guidance.
He has worked extensively in the public sector in technical and policy making roles. As a strong advocate of developing effective partnerships, he has facilitated, co-ordinated and supported local partnerships and is a keen supporter of the mantra “nothing about us without us”, none more so then when it comes to the built environment.
A skilled trainer, Darryl is currently working with user-led organisations and has co-designed an Equality Framework that equips third sector and commercial organisations to embed EDI policies and practice within their culture. This work continues to expand.
Darryl grew up as a carer and trained as planner. He is a keen advocate of the social model and believes in practical processes to create outcomes we can all enjoy.
