What we do

What we do

IDC’s purpose is to make life better by design. We work from grassroots to Government, delivering programmes, producing world-class research and influencing policy. Uniquely, our programmes cover the built environment, public sector design and social innovation, and business innovation. Our 75-year history and network of 450 associates across the design economy mean we can convene impartial and inclusive spaces to tackle tricky problems.

We work collaboratively in partnership with others – government, public bodies, charities and foundations and businesses – to achieve lasting results on pressing economic, social and environmental challenges.

Programmes

Design Council’s programmes demonstrate how design makes a difference and supports creativity and innovation. They are all based on our core methodology, the Framework for Innovation, at the heart of which sits our internationally adopted design process, the Double Diamond.

Previous programmes that we have run have supported design across Europe, trained civil servants and supported business growth.

Whatever the question, design has an answer.
